Apple's Black Friday deals unveiled

Disappointing discounts revealed

28 November 2008 9:12 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

For the first time, Apple has extended its "Black Friday" style deals from the States to the UK for a "one-day shopping event" today.

Apple's deals for the UK have now been revealed - and the company's claims: "biggest shopping event of the year" may seem a bit hyped.

Apple fans can get £31 off a £799 iMac, £61 off a £949 MacBook, £5 off a nano, and £11 off a classic and a touch.

In addition there are savings around the 15% mark on accessories, peripherals and software.

If you were planning to buy some bits from the Apple story anyway, this will be a welcome discount, but would it encourage you to shop from scratch? Let us know in the comments section below.

  • I was the first person in the 'queue' at Apple's flagship store in Regent Street. To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. Firstly there was tiny selection of goods on sale, and furthermore, what you see on sale in the UK online store differs from other countries, e.g. popular items like the Incase neoprene MacBook sleeves were discounted to £14.95 in Australia were unchanged at £24.95. And to add further insult to injury, the retail stores were not matching their own online store. Big and medium ticket items were on sale, but £5 off an iPod...you could get that discount at Amazon any day of the week. My shopping basket? An iPhone 3G dock at £16 instead of £19. But hey I got a free coffee... Posted by DC, England
  • I have been holding back on buying my first ever Macbook until after the Jan announcement but was looking forward to being persuaded into spending money today but this tiny discount has just left me disappointed and a little angry after getting their promising marketing email.

    I'm a PC a little while longer!
