HTC has dramatically raised the shipment forecasts for two of its highest profile handsets, seemingly beating the current economic downturn.The Taiwanese-based company expects cumulative shipments of the T-Mobile G1 - the world's first Android phone - to reach one million units by the end of 2008.
This snippet, from HTC's CEO Peter Chou, contrasts with his previous estimate of 600,000 G1 units to be sold by the end of the year.
Previously Chou had stated: "We should be doing good numbers, but I can't disclose the details. It will be more than what we originally planned. I'm saying we will ship more than 600,000."
The G1 is currently on sale in the UK and the US via T-Mobile where it launched at the end of October.
