A Russian games developer has made the controversial decision to create a new, although virtual, war between Russia and Georgia.

The game "Confrontation - Peace Enforcement", which will go on sale in Russia next month, is set as Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili gets support from unnamed Western powers and decides to launch another attack to seize back the contested states South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

The game also points the finger at NATO, and Poland - the latter which is named as the chief supporter of the Georgian authorities.

The games' developer give this outline of the plot: "NATO does not stay out of it, pushing Poland forward as its representative and Ukraine blockades the Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol".

"Russia cannot remain out of it and launches a strike in response."

Players then get to manoeuvre forces from Russia, Poland, Georgia and Abkhazia.

But the makers insist that the game should not be taken too seriously.

"Politics are politics and a game is a game. These things should not be confused", Alexander Dmitrevsky, the business development director at one of the game's makers, Russobit-M, told Reuters.
