It was a fervent HD DVD supporter, then it dropped the format and then it promised us a Blu-ray DVD player.Well Onkyo has now delivered.
Its first Blu-ray player is the DV-BD606 is claimed to "squeeze every last ounce of benefit out of the new Blu-ray disk format" including being able to play interactive bonus material in picture-in-picture mode.
The player delivers a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080p and a refresh rate option of 24 pictures per second (via 24fps-capable HD televisions and AV receivers).
Also the players uses the latest HDMI tech (1.3a) which means it can support Deep Color (on appropriate discs).
The player will also scale up standard definition DVDs to 1080p resolution, as well as playing discs encoded with DivX, MP3 and JPEG files.
