Apple TV gets 2.3 update

Music streaming abilities added

Apple has released an update for its Apple TV product.

The software update, version 2.3, brings the ability to stream your Apple TV music to any of your Hi-Fi speakers, as long as they are streamed through AirTunes and connected through Airport Express.

This sees the Apple TV more able to compete with the likes of Sonos and Philips.

In addition, Apple TV can now "learn" other third party remote controls and use them, as well as the Apple remote.

Finally, playlists in iTunes that contain movies, TV shows, podcasts and music videos, can now be seen on Apple TV.

Apple says the Apple TV may take up to a week to display and automatically install the update.
