Google launches SearchWiki

Edit and customise your search results

Google has announced the biggest changes to its search engine over the last 12 months with the launch of Google SearchWiki.

Only available to those signed in with a Google account, the feature gives users "more control over their search experience".

With SearchWiki users can add, delete, re-sort or comment on search results for any query, to create a set of search results that's customised just for them.

Results can be rejigged so that sites you prefer always appears first, you can delete a link from the search results that seems out of place, add a URL so your favorite site always shows up for that search, or post a comment so you can remind yourself about a page's content or provide recommendations to other users doing the same search.

The changes made by individual users will not affect Google's overall search results, but users can view other people's comments by selecting "All notes for this SearchWiki" link.

In a blog post Google says. "We are constantly striving to improve our users' search experience, and this is yet another step along the way".
