It was launched in September, but Packard Bell has now released details of when UK gamers will be able to buy its first ever gaming laptop.
The iPower GX is aimed at gaming enthusiasts but is also claimed to be powerful enough for movie viewing (although this model doesn't have a Blu-ray drive) and also for memory hungry graphics applications.
Spec-wise, it has Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS with 1GB of GDDR3 VRAM, and it is powered by the Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q9100.
The screen is a 17 inch full HD display with 1920 x 1200 resolution along with "glossy black and brushed aluminium surfaces".
The iPower GX comes with dual e-SATA hard drives for up to 640GB (2x320GB) of storage capacity and you also get a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Gigabit LAN and Wi-Fi (n) networking, three USB ports, FireWire, a 5-in-1 card reader and optional Bluetooth.
Also worth a mention is the "street art" design, with its red trim and graffiti pattern.
It will be available from January with prices starting at £999.
