Virgin Media has launched up to 16MB broadband in the UK.

New and existing customers using Virgin Media's ADSL broadband service, now known as Virgin Media National, will be able to double their existing broadband speed from 8MB to up to 16MB.

Virgin is offering new and existing customers the chance to try the broadband boost for up to 3 months at no extra cost.

Following the trial period, the service will cost customers £5 a month on top of their normal package should they want to keep the faster service.
