Asus launches P565 smartphone

Win Mob 6.1 device with a 800MHz CPU

Asus is claiming a world first in it's P656.

This new smartphone (which was launched in Japan) is said to be the very first Windows Mobile 6.1 phone to receive a 800MHz CPU.

The phone also features a 2.8-inch VGA LCD and offers HSDPA 3.6Mbps, UMTS 2100, EDGE/GPRS/GSM 900/1800/1900 connectivity.

You also get 256MB of flash memory and 128 MB of DDR SDRAM, as well as Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.

Handy extras include a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS, microSD with SDHC support and all in a package, which is 102 x 60.5 x 16mm and weighs 120g.

No news whether it will make it out West.

P565 comes with only Pocket IE. Tried Opera 9.5beta but it consumed too much RAM that led to system lag (reduced from 50MB to less than 10MB). Any other good browser that would required less RAM on running ?

The machine is really fast. But seems requiring more RAM than others, e.g., my Sansung Omnia even during other normal operations. Any simialr experience and solution ? Posted by cc, HK
