US Military launches TroopTube

Pentagon-approval video-sharing

13 November 2008 17:12 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Over a year after restricting soldier's access to YouTube and MySpace, the US Military has offered its staff an alternative.

In conjunction with start-up Delve Networks, the army has launched a video-sharing website for troops, their families and supporters.

The new site is called "TroopTube", and lets members upload personal videos from anywhere with an internet connection.

However, users should be aware a Pentagon employee screens each clip "for taste, copyright violations and national security issues".
