According to rumour sites across the web, Apple will announce new PowerBooks and iBooks with the Intel chipset in the first half of next year.According to the AppleInsider.com “Although the Mac maker has only gone on record in saying that the first Intel-based Macintosh systems are due by the middle of 2006, information passed on by extremely reliable sources indicates that the company is on track to begin introducing its first Intel machines much sooner”.
Other websites suggest that a new 15in widescreen model will be first and have a much thinner design than current models.
The new 15in PowerBook is said to be 20-25% thinner than the one you can buy today with the addition of an iSight web camera similar to that found in the new iMac announced last month by Apple's CEO Steve Jobs.
The sources claim the updated 17in widescreen PowerBook will appear a few months later with an iBook appearing around April /May in America.
Apple announced in June 2005 at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco that it will over the next 2 years be transferring to Intel chips for its Apple computer range. Hardware, Laptops, Apple, Rumours
