The Acoustic Research 5.1 Surround Sound USB headphones from Audiovox are claimed to offer a cheaper alternative to Bose.

The headphones are claimed to provide surround sound.

"The six high performance neodymium drivers optimize each audio channel (centre, left/right, front/subwoofer and surround speakers), and deliver accurate 5.1 surround sound with extended bass", says the manufacturer.

The earphones come with a carrying case and are priced $99.99.

Audiovox has also launched an iPod dock, which is sleek, black and packs in "horn-loaded tweeters, a ported enclosure and premium audio crossovers to ensure ‘best in class’ performance".

The AR5100 is only 3-inches thin and has touch buttons on the front panel.

The AR 5100 Audio Dock is available now for $199.99.
