Gears of War 2 sales top two million

With 1.5 million players logged into LIVE

Microsoft has announced that debut weekend sales of the Xbox 360 game "Gear of War 2" topped 2 million units worldwide.

Stating that the games is "well on its way to becoming one of the biggest releases of this console generation", the game saw a launch in 20 countries.

Over 20,000 retail locations opened their doors at 12:01am on Friday 7 November to celebrate the worldwide release of the game, that's exclusive to the Xbox platform.

More than 1.5 million people logged into "Gears of War 2" on Xbox LIVE during the weekend, racking up a total 15 million gameplay hours and helping set a new record for concurrent LIVE players.

"Gears of War 2" is rated 18 and available now for £44.99 for the Standard Edition and £49.99 for the Limited Edition.
