Virgin Media is the latest tech company to announce large-scale job culls.

The cable firm has said it will slash 2200 from its workforce over the next 4 years - a 15% reduction in staff.

Part of a group wide overall, Virgin Media has said the cuts are "critical" in order for it to compete effectively.

Concerned staff will be happy to note that the cuts will not begin until the fourth quarter of 2009.

The redundancies are part of Virgin Media's strategy to save £120 million before 2012.
