The Samsung Q1 Diamond personal media player, not to be confused with the UMPC of similar designation, has launched in the UK with a little surprise bonus: iPlayer support. Those able to access the BBC's services will be able to download content to their PC and sideload it onto their player to watch on the train to work.
The Q1, announced at IFA in September, is Samsung's latest player, and comes with a "spacious" 2.4-inch QVGA colour display, whilst navigation is handled by the diamond touchpad that gives the player its name. It also includes Samsung's DNSe 3.0, which aims to give you the best audio experience ever.
The player will also allow the reading of Word and text documents, as well as the normal music and video playback functions. You also get an FM radio, the ability to view you images and voice note options. Available in 4, 8 or 16GB sizes, the Q1 is available from around £50.
Paul Scott, Product Manager for Camcorder and MP3 said: "We are excited to announce the launch of the Samsung Q1 Diamond offering our customers a unique design and premium multimedia experience in one device with portable access to BBC iPlayer. This product embodies our future plans for the MP3 range which focuses on combining the best in style and design with cutting edge technology". Audio, MP3 players, Samsung
