O2 Xda Zest launches

Available on both contract and Pay&Go

O2 has unveiled the Xda Zest, the first O2 Xda to be made available on Pay&Go, as well as on Pay Monthly.

O2 hopes the Xda Zest will encourage first time PDA users to swap from conventional handsets and "experience the benefits of using a fully featured PDA without being tied into a minimum term".

The Xda Zest is said to boast a sleek "finger-friendly" touch interface and a 2.8-inch TFT screen

Made for O2 by Asus, the Xda Zest comes with a free 2-week CoPilot satnav trial with full UK and Ireland GPS mapping.

Running Windows Mobile 6.1, users will have access to their email using Mobile Outlook, as well as the capability to view and edit Microsoft Office documents in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The Xda Zest offers built-in Wi-Fi and HSDPA, as well as a 3-megapixel camera, an MP3 player and FM radio.

O2 Xda Zest will be on sale from 17 November 2008. It is available on O2 Pay&Go priced at £249.99 and from free on certain O2 Pay Monthly contracts.

  • Given one for Christmas to replace my Dell Axim x50. Fantastic piece of kit but can I run Tomtom on it??? Posted by Mike Dearden, England
  • Yes you can. I'm running TT5 NAVIGATOR on it no problems at all.
Make sure you install to SD card though as otherwise there is not enough memory.
Copy all the cab files from the CD rom to your SD card. I used ActiveSync in turbo mode to do this.
Then double click on each cab file in no particular order.
Select install to "storage card" every time. This is important so don't click "OK" too quickly.
When setting up TomTom select "GPS" as the GPS port (not any of the COM ports as on previous XDA models) and also select fastest BAUD rate.
The result is the highest res TOMTOM screen I have ever seen with super fast GPS updates.....one very happy user!
