• I think the point of the accelerometer and gyroscope is to enable Virtual Reality. By knowing the angle and speed of movement, the display could simulate a real room so you could look around you and around objects and corners, and, if GPS was also present, overlay a digital image upon the real world.

• Wow, patenting technology that is already on sale on eBay. VR headset with gyros so you can turn your head 'in game' have been around for at least a year.
  I want a job in Apple's tech dept. if all you have to do is surf eBay looking at new technology (although to be fair, since Apple can't make decent games machines, it can be assumed that the existing device is PC only). Posted by Adrian, UK
