Pocket-lint has announced the winners of the 2008 Vodafone Pocket-lint Gadget Awards giving you the must-have gadgets across 12 categories.
The awards, decided by the UK's top technology and gadget journalists from online and print, let you the consumer know what the best camera, satnav, music gadget, laptop, software, video game, home cinema device, mobile phone, email device, and eco gadgets are.
This year it was tougher than ever with the nominations drawn from over 600 products released in the last year with the usual suspects not even getting a look in on some of the categories.
Best music gadget saw B&W's Zeppelin iPod speaker fend off the new iPod nano 4G while TomTom regained its control with a win over Navman.
In Best Digital Camera, Fujifilm followed last year's success with a win with the Fujifilm FinePix F60fd and best software was snagged by Mozilla for its Firefox 3 browser.
Best game saw LittleBIGPlanet score on the gaming front, and the MSI Wind gained the Best Laptop/Netbook award from Toshiba who came in second with the Portege R500.
Pioneer continued to dominate the Best Home Cinema Award with a win for the 2nd generation Kuro following up last year's win for the first version of the plasma television.
On the phone and email front, RIM's BlackBerry storm pipped the Apple iPhone 3G to the win, with Nokia winning Best Email Device for the E71 due to its easy of setting up email over devices like the Dell Mini 9 and the T-Mobile G1.
Eco Gadget of the year goes to Pure for its move to more friendly green practices and packaging.
The Pocket-lint innovation award goes to Asus for the Asus Eee PC range in recognition of starting an entire market sector: netbooks.
Product of the Year was fiercely fought this year, however the MSI Wind pipped the Apple iPhone 3G by a whisker to be crowned the "must have" gadget of 2008.
The biggest upset of the night was for Apple. Nominated for four awards, the American company from Cupertino walked away empty handed.
