The Nintendo DSi has had a positive reception in its home territory. Japan's Enterbrain estimates that the handheld device has sold over 170,000 units in its launch weekend.
The Nintendo DSi is the company's refreshed version of its popular DS that gets a larger screen and a digital camera built-in.
Some have criticised Nintendo for not making more of the update - a recent Pocket-lint poll showed 53% of readers thought the revamp was a "waste of time".
The DSi debuted in Japan on the first day of three day holiday weekend for around $165, some queues were reported but its thought many pre-ordered or reserved their unit.
