OCZ has unveiled a 15-inch gaming notebook based on the Intel Centrino 2 platform.
Why this machine is different is it is part of the company's DIY range - the idea for which is users get to "spec their own systems for their own applications", as explains Electronista.
On a basic tech level, you get a 15.4-inch notebook with an ATI Radeon HD 3650 GPU with 512MB of dedicated memory and DirectX 10.1 compatibility.
You can choose between a dual-layer DVD drive or a slower multi-drive that includes Blu-ray support.
CPU-wise, there's a choice of Intel's Core 2 Duo and Extreme processors, ranging from 2.0GHz to 2.6GHz.
You can have up to 8GB of RAM, along with a choice of hard drives ranging from 80GB to 500GB capacities and 5400RPM or 7200RPM speeds, although OCZ also offers solid state drives.
There's also an optional 4-in-1 card reader.
Also worth a mention are the built-in speakers, Express Card slot, three USB ports, as well as an HMDI port and fingerprint reader.
But - here's the catch - all of the ordered components ship separately and then need to be installed into the 15.4-inch chassis by the user. Hours and hours and hours of fun...
