Asus today announced the launch of their anticipated Eee Top home computer, following the likes of the HP TouchSmart, to give you a touch-enabled all-in-one device based on the company’s popular Eee PC platform.The Eee Top features a 15.6-inch 16:10 aspect widescreen touch display, which also houses the rest of the hardware and connections, whilst keeping a slim profile of 42.5mm. This being part of the Eee family, you’ll find an Intel Atom N270 (1.6MHz) processor lying at its core and 1GB RAM.
In terms of connectivity you get all the standard offerings, including b/g/n Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, 4x USB 2.0 connections on the rear, and a further 2x USB 2.0 and card reader on the side for easy connection. A 160GB SATA drive gives you the space to save all your files. Sound is well catered for with 2x 4-watt SRS TruSurround speakers. The whole thing weighs in at 4.3kg.
The Eee Top comes with Windows XP Home, but also features Asus’ innovative Express Gate, allowing a Linux start-up in 8 seconds, giving you quick access to the Internet.
Of course, if you don't fancy the touchscreen, you can use the slimline keyboard and mouse.
With a retail price of £449, this is one home PC that won’t break the bank. It will be available to buy in the next couple of weeks and is available in black or white.
