Mills & Boon is making a "major commitment" to e-book publishing with the decision to make dozens of new titles available as digital downloads every month.

The romance fiction company admits that one of the main benefits to e-book publishing is that customers can read the books in "total anonymity", allowing them to avoid the embarrassment factor that maybe associated with reading such fiction.

Another heralded bonus is that customer won't have to wait to receive the latest titles as they can be downloaded instantly.

Mills & Boon currently offers e-books in EPUB format which can be read on a computer using Adobe Digital Editions as well as e-book readers and some smartphones.

Mills & Boon's e-books start at £2.99, the same price as the paperback versions sold through its website.
