Google Earth comes to the iPhone and iPod Touch

Available now via the App store

Yes - Google Earth has finally come to the Apple iPhone, but online reports are suggesting already that the app's not that good.

Mobile Computer says that the 1.0 edition app is a tad on the slow side, and also quips that "control over layers and places is minimal to say the least".

And the virtual globe is "jerky" as well as the touch controls being "a bit unresponsive".

But you do get drag to pan, pinch or double-tap to zoom, finger-twist to rotate and accelerometer-powered tilt as well as GPS location.

You can try it out for yourself now as the app is available now to download from the Apple App Store, and is compatible with the first and second generation iPhones as well as the iPod Touch.

It is available in 18 languages.
