LG KP500 launches as the "Cookie"

"Affordable" touchscreen phone on sale with Carphone Warehouse

Following the global announcement of the device, LG has officially launched the KP500 in the UK.

Described as "an affordable touchscreen phone" for the masses the mobile launches with the name "Cookie".

13.9mm slim, this 89 gram handset has an "intuitive" Active Flash user interface with haptic feedback and comes with a built-in stylus.

LG claims the personalised widget icons on its 3.0-inch screen make it simple to use while the Cookie's QWERTY keyboard slides into view when it is held horizontally and its auto-rotating display shifts images or documents for enhanced viewing.

Other features include a 3-megapixel camera, MP3 player, FM radio, calendar, clock and motion sensing games.

"The LG Cookie was developed to reflect the desire of many consumers who want to own a full touchscreen phone without having to pay a premium price", says Jeremy Newing, head of LG mobile marketing, LG Electronics.

"LG has stepped up to meet the demand of today's 'Touch Generation' as more and more consumers look to experience the pleasure of using touchscreen phones. With the introduction of the LG Cookie we are continuing to build on our range of feature-rich yet affordable handsets."

The Cookie will be on sale at the Carphone Warehouse in November on an O2 pay as you go basis, priced around £159.95 inclusive of £10 credit. Other deals may be offered nearer the time.
