Google charity project gets 150,000 ideas

The deadine for Google's Project 10 to the 100th charitable endeavour that's called for world-changing ideas has now passed.

Google has announced that the competition has received more than 150,000 online submissions submitted in 25 languages.

More than 3000 Google employees from 50 offices worldwide, with the help of an advisory board, will now reduce the enormous list to 100 finalists.

"We're thrilled by the large array of enthusiastic responses to Project 10^100. That number has exceeded our expectations", said Bethany Poole, a product marketing manager at Google.

"We're also very impressed by the variety and ingenuity of the submissions across all categories, ranging from health to energy, education and the environment."

On 27 January, Google will post the top 100 ideas online for public voting for the funding to be awarded in May.
