Toshiba Tecra R10 launches

With up to 8GB DDR2 RAM

Toshiba has launched the Tecra R10, the company's first 14-inch widescreen notebook weighing less than 2kgs, describing it as "stylish and powerful".

Aimed at those who want a compact, lightweight and robust lappie, the R10 offers a 14.1-inch WXGA non-reflective LCD display with a magnesium alloy chassis and a spill-resistant keyboard.

Based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 VPro technology, there's also Toshiba EasyGuard as well as an embedded SmartCard and fingerprint reader.

The Tecra R10 is available with either a hard disk drive or 128GB of Solid State Storage and up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM.

The R10 also offers an embedded mobile broadband 3G HSPA modem, offering data rates of up to 7.2Mbps, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v2.1.

Wired connectivity includes 3 USB ports with USB sleep and charge technology and there's a also a DVD SuperMulti optical disk drive.

The Toshiba Tecra R10 is available in the UK from the end of October starting at £899.
