Microsoft gets antsy over Yahoo merger rumours

Spokesperson says enough already

20 October 2008 11:38 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Microsoft has issued a short, and we mean short, statement following yet more rumours that the company is still interested in buying Yahoo following the almost collapse of the Yahoo share price.

In a statement just 18 words long, Microsoft says:

"Our position hasn’t changed. Microsoft has no interest in acquiring Yahoo!; there are no discussions between the companies."

So there you have it.

It seems that's a polite way of saying to journalists "Stop with your questions, now bugger off!"

Of course it's probably all likely to change when Steve Ballmer says something to get the rumour mill excited once again.

We will keep you posted.
