A Motorola V3 is said to have "exploded and filled the room with black smoke", reports Mobile Today.
Apparently the 2-year-old black Motorola V3 handset "exploded with an almighty bang" after it had been on charge for around an hour.
The phone's owner said the smoke was so thick he could barely see his hand in front of his face and states that the battery became "red hot" and started glowing before the explosion caused the back of the phone to fly off.
Motorola has yet to comment on the incident.
