Using a new configuration with two bulbs, BenQ is promising its brightest projector to date - the SP920.

This £3000 (+VAT) XGA monster delivers 6000 ANSI lumens at resolutions of 1024 x 768.

Aimed predominantly at business users, this projector is bright enough so that lights do not have to be turned off to see presentations.

But it also delivers a 2000:1 contrast ratio, BrilliantColor technology and has a dual lamp which offers three sets of lamp mode.

The Normal Mode delivers 6000 ANSI lumens, the Eco Mode delivers 4800 ANSI lumens and then you can opt to just use one lamp at 3000 ANSI lumens.

The second lamp will be on standby which saves electricity and extends the lamp lifetime.

The projector is built around a Texas Instruments' DLP BrilliantColor chipset, and also includes an Independent Colour Management feature which allows users to independently adjust the hue and saturation of the red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, and yellows in the image.

BenQ adds that the SP920 has a throw distance of 1.2-10m, and offers vertical keystone adjustment of +/- 25 degrees.

Delivering 5000 ANSI lumens of brightness is the SP920's little brother - the SP870.

Claimed to be best suited for use in medium to large-sized conference rooms, this offers an XGA resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

It is also claimed to be one of the most light-intensive DLP projectors on the market.

This is in addition to a contrast ratio of 2000:1, and it also builds in the same UNISHAPE tech as the SP920 so can adapt the light intensity and adjust the image content within milliseconds.

You also get independent colour management, wall colour correction, HDTV compatibility and fast-cooling function.

The guarantee period is 36 months, with a replacement device provided in the first 12 months.

The SP870 is £1299 +VAT.
