Sharp launches TV with built-in Blu-ray

World first for Aquos DX range

In Japan, Sharp has launched the Aquos DX range of LCD HDTVs that's notable as it's the world's first to boast internal Blu-ray players.

Due to be available in a range of sizes, including 26-inches, 32-inches, 37-inches, 42-inches, 46-inches and 52-inches, it's worth noting that the bottom two sizes don't actually offer a full HD panel.

From 37-inches up, the televisions offer Full HD 1080p resolutions of 1920 x 1080.

All models will get an integrated HDTV tuner, bottom-mounted speaker as well as the external Blu-ray player seemingly mounted to the back and side of the screens.

The new televisions are due to ship in late November in black and white from around 200,000 yen, about £1130 to 500,000 yen, which is about £2800. No word on a global release.
