Sony has launched a new rear projection flat screen television featuring new 3LCD technology as part of its BRAVIA (Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture) range. Available from October, the new 50 inch KDF-E50A12U takes up the same amount of space in a living room as a 42 inch Plasma TV but boasts 8 inches more screen size.

The KDF-E50A12U also incorporates a slim line speaker providing Dolby Digital Surround Sound and is supplied with a floor stand.

3LCD technology works by dividing the light emitted from the lamp into the three basic colours, red, green and blue. Each coloured light is then shone through separate liquid crystal panels delivering brilliant pictures with natural image quality, sharper detail and rich colour that is free of break-up.

The set also features PC input as well as 30 Freeview TV and radio channels including BBC News 24, E4 and Sky Travel.
