LG has announced the launch of its new LCD TV LG80, which the company says is specially designed as an ideal home theatre TV with "superb sound system and unparalleled picture quality".
Part of LG's "Scarlet" series, the LG80 gets speakers that automatically slide out of the side of the set when it is turned on.
LG says this feature "not only adds a bit more excitement" to the TV, it also helps improve Mark Levinson-tuned sound quality offering a fully incorporated 3.1-channel virtual surround sound system with 50 watts output.
As well as the slide-out speakers, the sound system is made up of a center channel speaker dedicated and a woofer on the back of the TV.
Image-wise, the new Scarlet TV offers 1080p full HD and a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, there's three AV modes, a USB 2.0 connection and two HDMI 1.3 ports.
It does not look as though it's coming to the UK though - the press info states "LG80 will be available from October in all markets except North America and Europe", no pricing revealed.
