Toshiba has launched a new model into its ultraportable "Portege" range - the R600 - but seemingly only in Canada.

With a magnesium body, Toshiba claims it's "the world’s lightest, fully-featured laptop" with a starting weight of just 779 grams.

With the same dimensions as, and similar to, the R500 refreshed in the UK this summer, the R600 gets up to 5GB of memory, a 128GB SSD on certain models and up to 8 hours of battery life, combined with a 12.1-inch screen.

Features include a dual-layer DVD burner, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, webcam and fingerprint reader.

With SSD and hard drive options, as well as different Intel Core 2 Duo chips, there's a choice of models that start from around £1220.
