TomTom has announced the launch of its new Map Update service. Available to all TomTom customers, prices start from £7.95 per quarter, depending on the model of TomTom device and the version of maps required.

Through this service, users can download new map releases through TomTom HOME, TomTom's bundled desktop software, as soon as a new map becomes available.

New maps become available every quarter for the duration of a user's subscription, and each map incorporates all changes in the road network that have been validated by Tele Atlas.

Corinne Vigreux, TomTom's managing director, said: "The world's road infrastructure changes up to 15% each year and with TomTom's Map Update Service, TomTom Map Share and our latest map guarantee, users can now also keep up with these changes, providing them with even more accurate and up-to-date navigation".
