HP Unveils Broadest Range of Handhelds Ever

Three new HP iPAQ models, all based on the new Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 operating system
HP today expanded its award-winning iPAQ Pocket PC product line to offer customers a full range of handheld products. These include: the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h1940, slim value-priced pocket PC, the HP iPAQ h2210, the smallest dual-slot pocket PC; and the h5550, which offers the ultimate in performance, connectivity and security. All of these models are powered by the new Microsoft® Windows® for Pocket PC 2003.


Targeted at the individual buyer, the HP iPAQ h1900 range offers a super-slim form factor and the lightest weight in the industry, at highly affordable prices. The HP iPAQ h2210 is ideal for the small and medium business customer or corporate users for whom expandability, performance and connectivity are the key requirements. Meanwhile, the HP iPAQ h5550 is the ideal choice for corporate and business environments where users are looking for the best in performance, connectivity, security, manageability and autonomy - critical considerations for the company IT manager.


All HP iPAQs announced today feature HP’s legendary transflective screen technology, offering rich colour saturation and high contrast while remaining easy to view outdoors. Other common features include a secure digital input/output (SDIO) expansion slot for additional storage options, a removable battery, HP’s exclusive iPAQ Image Viewer for viewing images and creating slide shows, and Bluetooth capability across the entire range.


The HP iPAQ h1940
With a weight of just 124gr, the HP iPAQ h1940 is the lightest handheld in the industry and offers a super-slim form factor just 12.8mm thin.
The new HP iPAQ h1940 device features an SDIO expansion slot allowing customers to add additional memory cards, wireless cards for flexible connectivity or accessories such as a digital camera. In addition, the HP iPAQ h1940 offers integrated Bluetooth.

The HP iPAQ h2210
Designed for the mobile professional, the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h2210 is the smallest Pocket PC on the market to include dual-slot expansion, allowing customers to add either CF Type II and/or SDIO cards to store more data, play more music or view more photos.


The iPAQ h2210 also features 64 MB of RAM (56 MB main memory), a 400MHz Intel® X-Scale® PXA255 applications processor for accelerated multimedia and security, and integrated Bluetooth wireless capability, while retaining a compact, sleek design.

The HP iPAQ h5550 series
The HP iPAQ h5500 is the first Pocket PC to include unparalleled 128 MB RAM and a 400 MHz Intel X-Scale PXA255 processor for accelerated multimedia and security. Other key features include integrated wireless LAN network access3 (802.11b) and Bluetooth technology, as well as advance security features including a thermal biometric fingerprint reader that protects critical data from unauthorised access, and F-Secure FileCrypto data encryption technology.


The HP iPAQ h5550 series also offers advanced manageability and increased autonomy thanks to an optional spare removable lithium polymer extended-life Battery, for increased autonomy away from the desk.

Availability
The new HP iPAQ handheld line-up is expected to be available from 23 June 20035.


Pocket PC 2003 Upgrade Programme
An upgrade offer will give existing iPAQ Pocket PC h5450 and h3900 series customers the ability to upgrade their handheld products with the Microsoft Pocket PC 2003, without purchasing new hardware. Further information will be published at www.hp.com soon.
