SanDisk has announced it is launching 16GB microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro mobile memory cards.

The cards are the world's largest storage capacity for mobile phones and will be available at various retailers in the US, Europe and Asia in October.

As well as phones, microSDHC cards are also used in video cameras, GPS receivers and MP3 players. The Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards are designed for Sony Ericsson’s new generation of mobile phones.

SanDisk's 16GB microSDHC card will be around £45 plus VAT and the 16GB M2 card, £60, plus VAT.
