Art Lebedev designs a mobile phone

Scartel concept revealed

25 September 2008 11:57 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Russian design geniuses (genii?) at the Art Lebedev studio have turned their attentions to the humble mobile phone.

With the design brief to develop a draft design concept for a mobile device, the mock-up, for company Scartel is a fairly minimalist effort with, sadly, no programmable OLED keys.

What it does get is WiMAX support, as well as Wi-Fi and tri-band GSM capabilities.

That touchscreen has a 850 x 480 pixel resolution, there's an auxiliary five-position joystick control and two cameras - one front and back.

Other features visible in the pic are a headphone jack, USB connectivity and a microSD card slot.

There's no word from the Lebedevs on whether this will go from concept to actual product, we guess that's down to Scartel.
