Samsung X460 notebook launches

"A masterpiece in mobility"

Samsung has launched the X460, a 14.1-inch widescreen notebook that the company describes as "ultra-lightweight", even going as far as to claim a "world's lightest" accolade for its size class at 1.84kg.

Offering the new 45 nano-meter sized Intel Centrino 2 processor technology, a dedicated Nvidia 9300M GS graphics core with support for DirectX10, the laptop can come with up to 4GB RAM and upto a 320GB hard drive.

Supplied with a 6-cell battery for a claimed 5 hours of use, there's an optional extra 9-cell version available that's said to be good for 7 hours while the WXGA screen has backlight technology for less energy consumption.

The X460 offers a webcam, 7-in-1 memory card reader, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, HDMI, and an ultra slim internal optical drive as well as a secure biometric fingerprint system.

There's 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN connection, modem and support for the Samsung P-Dock docking station as well as 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.

The X460 will be available from September in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, as well as in Russia, China and Hong Kong. Pricing starts at £999.
