Nokia Tube launching 2 October

Touchscreen mobile to be announced at Comes With Music launch

After months of speculation and leaks, Nokia will finally launch its first mass market touchscreen mobile phone on 2 October, Pocket-lint can exclusively reveal.

The "Tube" as it is currently known, although it will likely launch under the XpressMusic sub-brand, is due to be announced at a London event for the introduction of Nokia's Comes With Music service, but will see a global launch at the same time.

Our industry source, who has asked to remain anonymous, has indicated that this timescale fits with Nokia's promise to get a touchscreen phone out before the end of the year.

Back in July, Nokia issued a statement that said: "Our first touch device will be aimed solidly at the 'mid-range' or 'volume' part of the market. This device will be competitively spec-ed - especially considering the price point and will be announced in a few months".

Pocket-lint will be live at the 2 October event so will bring you more official news then.
