If you watch the likes of Wall-E - and think, pah, I could do that, then why not check out the new YouTube style website from Channel 4, which is designed to let animators show off their creations.

The result of a collaboration between Lupus Films and Aardman Animations, 4mations.tv is hoped will attract talent from around the world.

According to Media Week, visitors will be able to upload their own work, pitch for paid commissions and "even have the opportunity for their work to appear on television".

There will also be a chance to win money.

4mations has a monthly fund of £1000, from which it is going to give out seven prizes of up to £250 for the most popular videos.

  • I'd just like to add one point of clarification - the site is not "designed just for animators", it is intended to provide a place where you can pull by whenever you're in the mood for a quick snack of amusing animation or a lunch-time laff, and reliably get something of really good quality without having to wade through oceans of dodgy video stuff.
