Cliff Bleszinski, the lead designer of Gears of War 2, has said that the new version of the Xbox 360 game will never be coming to the PC.

"It is never coming to the PC", said Bleszinski in an interview with Pocket-lint. The news is likely to come as a blow to those hoping to play the all action shooter on their PC as they did with the first version.

The new game, due out on 7 November, will once again pick up the story of Marcus Fenix and the rest of the COG Delta Squad as they take the fight to the Locust horde.

While PC and PS3 gamers will be left out in the cold, Bleszinki promised Xbox 360 gamers loads of new features and improvements over the previous version.

"The cover system has had over 400 improvements alone", the designer confirmed as he repeated Epic, the games developer's mantra, of "New, better, more".

Promising a longer single player campaign than the first instalment, gamers will also get a Horde mode that allows five players to take on wave after wave of monsters with the waves getting stronger every 10 levels. There will also be a two-player co-op as well as the standard array of multiplayer games to play via Xbox live.

"There will be more intimate violence in this version", Bleszinki told Pocket-lint, before admitting that it wasn't as much as he wanted: "I wanted gamers to have to chance to be able to rip someone's arm off and beat them to death with it, but we weren't able to include it in the end".

With a heavy focus on the story, Epic says it has all the makings of a Hollywood blockbuster with themes of sorrow, loss and redemption and the promise of a "money shot" moment in every level.

"We wanted to do a better job of the story", says Bleszinki. "With the storyline and characters already set up we've been able to have much more fun this time around."

Of course that's not to say there isn't the immense amount of action as in the first game with new weapons, monsters and vehicles making an appearance.

"My only regret is that at times there is too much action for gamers to be able to take it in", says Bleszinki.

Gears of War 2 hits the UK on 7 November.
