Carphone Warehouse makes another bid for Tiscali

Talks re-opened?

It is being reported that the Carphone Warehouse has "tabled" an offer of $821.3 million (below 450 million pounds) for the British arm of Italian broadband operator Tiscali.

Tiscali put itself up for sale earlier this year, and Carphone Warehouse was reported then to have offered £550 million for it, an offer that was apparently rejected as too low.

Tiscali has two million broadband customers in the UK - if the Carphone Warehouse bought the company it would become the UK's biggest broadband provider.

The rumours are from a Sunday Times report, but a Carphone Warehouse spokesperson told Reuters that he was unaware of any offer for Tiscali's UK assets.
