Guitar Hero promising new acts

Is Jimi Hendrix going to be on the bill?

There are rumours galore at the moment about who the team behind Guitar Hero is going to sign next.

If you have got bored of belting out Love in an Elevator with the special edition Aerosmith version of the game, it seems a Jimi Hendrix edition may be being lined up.

The slip came from Velvet Revolver (and former Guns 'n' Roses) guitarist Slash.

But there have also been whisperings of a Metallica special ed - which, with the Hendrix version - could be in shops after Christmas, when "Guitar Hero: World Tour" goes on sale.

Guitar Hero publisher Activision is also rumoured to be considering a subscription servce for its game - so fans can download new tunes when they have started to drive their family nuts by strumming along to the same tune 50 times a day.

At the moment, Guitar Heroes can buy individual tracks, full albums or three-song packs via their games consoles but cannot subscribe to be able to download a certain number of tracks each month.

When we hear anymore, we'll let you know.
