T-Mobile confirms Android event on Sept 23

New York announcement official, UK left hanging

It's time to get excited - T-Mobile USA has now officially confirmed the much-rumoured launch event for its forthcoming Android handset for 23 September.

To be held in New York, the Engadget blog reports that the event is a "whole shindig" and will feature "'presentations from T-Mobile, Google and other company executives' followed by hands-ons with the real deal".

Pocket-lint contacted T-Mobile in the UK to see if we could look forward to such a shindig this side of the pond, but have only been issued with a standard one-liner in response:

"T-Mobile is on track to bring an Android based phone to market in Q4 2008."

Hopefully T-Mobile and Google do have something up their sleeves for the UK market, so we'll wait with baited breath and let you know more when we hear it.
