O2 says Pay and Go iPhone 3G

16 September 2008 16:55 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

The Apple iPhone 3G has gone on sale in the UK today on a "Pay & Go" basis and the official operator for the device, O2, has told Pocket-lint that it is "selling well".

The first time the Apple mobile has been available on a non-contract basis here, the iPhone 3G 8GB for Pay & Go is selling now for £349.99 while the 16GB version costs £399.99.

A O2 spokesperson told Pocket-lint: "The iPhone 3G Pay & Go has been selling well today and we are very happy with the response. We expect it to be one of the must-have gifts this Christmas".

The Pay & Go handsets are on sale now in O2 stores, The Carphone Warehouse and Apple stores.

  • Overpriced though! Posted by William Murray, United Kingdom
  • o2 would say that it is selling well, when in actual fact it is selling poorly. lokk at it this way, we are in the middle of the worst economic downturns in history, the banks are falling like dominos and we are in a world wide recession. combine all that with high gas prices, electricity prices, petrol prices, food prices etc etc and what you get is a consumer who isnt willing to pay stupid high prices for gadgets that they can no longer afford, nor can they afford to put it on the credit cards and live in sin as costs for borrowing are going up along with mortgages (despite recent slight drop in interest rate).so i think it is pathetic of companies like o2 to hope against hope that the party will continue...well o2 and others the party is OVER, OVER it is OVER!!!!!!! so get used to it, the name of the game is no longer how much greedy profit you make but how many units you sell. would you rather sell a phone and lose say 30% on it or not sell it and lose 100%. no contest is there. my advice to all you consumers out there for whatever it is on the uk high street you wana buy...ask for a discount and if the sales advisor says "thats not the way it works, or we dont make much profit on this item so i cant" then tell them what ive told you and order them to give you a BIG discount or you walk away. simple...POWER TO HE CONSUMER AT LAST AND END RIP OFF BRITAIN
