The Wall Street Journal has chimed in with its take on the Android phone rumours, stating an October launch is expected.

Quoting "people familiar with the matter", the paper states that T-Mobile USA plans to begin selling the first smart phone powered running the Android OS late next month.

The WSJ acknowledges the rumours of delays for some Android handsets, but says "the T-Mobile phone is coming out on schedule".

T-Mobile's rumoured 23 September press announcement from the WSJ matches a similar report from Reuters, that slated the same date.

UPDATE: CrunchGear is reporting that the T-Mobile G1 handset will hit shops on October 20th.
