The Leica D-Lux-4 and the C-Lux-3 (which bear remarkable similarities to the Panasonic Lumix LX3 and FX37) have now been announced pre-Photokina.

Both models will be available from October.

The D-Lux-4 is being given the rather grand title of "Son of M8" boasting, as it does, a full 24mm wide angle lens (with a full f/2.0 aperture), a hot-shoe and fitting a range of accessories.

The camera is built around a 10.1-megapixel resolution sensor, which supports 24mm wide angle shooting.

Photographers can snap in Fine, Standard, RAW or combinations of these, and there is also an option for shooting images for display on HD televisions.

Also worth a mention are the manual focus, shutter speed, stops and exposure override options.

The D-Lux-4 has a £590 price tag, while its little sister, the C-Lux-3, is cheaper at £420 (and will be available in black or white).

This model also boasts the 25mm lens and a longer zoom up to 125 mm (both 35 mm format), and you also get a 10-megapixel sensor.

Other features worth mentioning include the OIS image stabilisation and improvement face recognition.
