Hackers hit LHC website

"We're pulling your pants down"

Hackers have "infiltrated" the computer system of the Large Hadron Collider.

The "Greek Security Team", as the group has apparently dubbed itself, added a page to the CERN facility's site calling those in charge of the IT there "a bunch of school kids" in what's described as a rambling note written in Greek.

The note said: "We're pulling your pants down because we don't want to see you running around naked looking to hide yourselves when the panic comes", but said there would be no more disruptions from them.

There was no damage done to any part of the system that is running the experiment, although scientists at CERN have been quoted as saying the hackers could have been "one step away" from the computer control systems for one of the machine's detectors.
