Sky has put plans for its Picnic service on hold, putting the blame on delays from an ongoing Ofcom investigation.The new Picnic offerings, announced in October last year, were to be based around a Freeview subscription service and would have been designed to offer customers "simple, flexible options to combine the services that they want" from Sky's TV, broadband and phone services.
Sky has not ruled out launching Picnic at a later date, but for now has allocated the project's staff and resources elsewhere.
A Sky spokesperson said: "The blunt truth is that Ofcom has spent 18 months looking at our proposals and there is no end in sight. The Picnic team have done everything they can to prepare for launch and there's nothing left to be achieved until Ofcom makes its mind up". Home Cinema, Sky, Freeview, Ofcom
