Tesco to expand iTunes rival with film and TV

More content due for "Tesco Digital" for Christmas

The promised expansion of content for Tesco's online "Digital" offering should be live before Christmas, the NMA reports.

When Tesco announced "Tesco Digital" earlier this year, the supermarket said it was "just the beginning" of a wider Tesco Digital strategy to eventually offer TV episodes, films and games.

It's now being reported that Tesco Digital is currently in talks with content providers including BBC Worldwide, ITV Worldwide and Fremantle Media.

A source at a TV company told NMA that no deals have yet been signed, but the popularity of the Tesco website, coupled with its marketing "clout" meant Tesco could have a positive impact on the online video market.
